IEBC has been able to register two million one hundred and sixty four thousand one hundred and eighty five new voters in the third week of the ongoing mass voter registration exercise representing 50.54% of the target.
Addressing the media this evening here in Nairobi ,IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati insists that their will be no extra day urging Kenyans to turn in large numbers this week.
The commission has also said that it will start the registration exercise for the people leaving in diaspora immediately after the end of the ongoing exercise.
The countries that will be targeted in this exercise include Uganda,Tanzania,Rwanda,Burundi and South Africa only.
Registration of prisoners will commence on 20th of this month to 28th among the 118 prisons across the country,and they will only be allowed to vote for the presidential candidate during the august election.
On the issue of shared Identity card numbers the commission has note that so far 50,174 names are legitimate and are accepted in the register,saying that the remaining 78,752 have to check and be verified.
