Key FM radio (Voice of Peace) is a newly establish FM radio with its main studios in the capital, Nairobi, Kenya. The radio’s main coverage areas include Upper Eastern – (the counties of Isiolo and Marsabit) and Northeastern region (counties of Garrisa, Mandera and Wajir). The radio’s immediate expansion plan will include the counties of Tana River, Mombasa, Lamu and Kilifi.
Relying on its capable and professional workforce, Key FM will strive to apply appropriate local knowledge, broadcasting skills and locally produced content to serve the information and communications needs of the communities in areas of its coverage. The predominantly pastoralist communities of Northern Kenya are largely news starved compared to other regions of the country, and have minimal access to public information and consequently minimal social and economic progress.
Key FM programs will seek to focus on scheduling real local news, current affairs produced in our own studios and in the local languages (Borana, Burji, Somali, Rendile and Turkana), to address the problems of information gaps. Our main programs will include News, current affairs, culture and sports, children, youth and Women and peace building programmes as well as agriculture/livestock farming and others topics especially produced for the local communities.
